Service Delivery Indexes (SDI)

Responding to the need to benchmark service delivery in Africa is a crucial component of the Service Delivery project, AERC is managing a sub project on the Construction and Operationalization of Service Delivery Indexes for Africa with financial support from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Africa and the World Trading System

This project builds and complements the Trade liberalization and Regional Integration in sub-Saharan Africa. The overall objective was to identify and examine the critical analytical and policy issues involved in Africa’s economic links with the rest of the world.

Export Supply Capacity Constraints

Launched in 2006, this project is attempting to identify and examine the key factors that constrain export supply response across products and countries in Africa. Export supply response capacity reflects the ability, speed and effectiveness with which domestic producers react to export market incentives.

Institutions and Service Delivery (ISD) Project

An important dimension to enhancing the well-being of Africans concerns improving delivery of services for a given bundle of resources.  Resources are obviously critical to the delivery of services to clients and, therefore, improving performance of African economies is important as this increases state capacity to provide services.

Information, Communication Technology (ICT) and Economic development in Africa

The objective of this study was to investigate the status and challenges of ICTs and ICT policy and their impact on economic development in Africa. The study build on the existing knowledge on the nature and extent of access to ICTs in Africa and proceeded to explore the impact of ICT on selected aspects of economic development with a view to drawing policy implications.
