- Publications
Among the earliest attempts by the Consortium to document
research results was the peer-reviewed Research Papers
series. Policy highlights of each paper are presented
in an Executive Summary, which is also translated
into French. Special Papers and occasional Policy
Papers are published on an as-needed basis. Papers
generated internally by the Secretariat, selected conference
papers, and interim results of collaborative research
projects, among others, are issued as Working Papers.
In addition, book-length volumes - whether published
under AERC's own imprint or in joint ventures with other
publishers - consolidating the results of focused research
projects are important vehicles for disseminating research
results.
AERC also publishes two periodical publications. The
AERC Newsletter provides in-depth coverage of
AERC activities in general with an added focus on the
training programme, particularly the Joint Facility
for Electives, to keep network members informed of the
outstanding opportunities offered by AERC's capacity
building efforts. Research News produced in collaboration
with the Research Department, provides a range of policy
relevant viewpoints and perspectives as it highlights
specific collaborative research themes or issues. Both
newsletters are available in hard and soft copy, with
hard copy distribution largely restricted to the sub-Saharan
region.
For all of these AERC seeks the optimum balance between
print and electronic publication and provides copies
of these publications in abstract and full downloadable
formats on this website.
