Comparative research provides for a cross-country synthesis
of completed research on specific issues and research
on issues of regional/sub regional relevance. A sample
of projects supported by AERC under this modality includes:
"Capital Flight and External
Debt in Sub-Saharan Africa" (a book edited
by Prof. Ibi Ajayi and Dr. Mohsin Khan has been
published by the IMF) |
"Financial Resource Mobilization
and Management in Africa" |
"Macroeconomic Modelling
and Economic Policymaking: A Survey of Experience
in Africa" |
"Quality of African Data" |
"Macroeconomic and Sectoral
Policies and Performance of the Agricultural Sector
in Sub-Saharan Africa" |
"The Implications of Economic
Reforms for the Social Sectors in SSA" |
There should be a critical mass of completed and ongoing
AERC supported projects in an area for the Consortium
to support a project under this modality. The process
leading to the commissioning of comparative research
is initiated by the Secretariat or by senior researchers
who point to appropriate areas that would benefit from
a cross-country synthesis. The proposals are then submitted
to the Programme Committee for approval.
